Music Index.  Covers all styles and genres of music.  Includes book reviews, obituaries, periodicals, and news and articles about music, musicians, and the music industry.

RILM Music Abstracts.   Covers all aspects of music, including historical musicology, ethnomusicology, instruments and voice, dance, and music therapy.

Academic Search Complete.  Articles on various topics.

You may search several Ebsco databases at the same time.  Have a look at this video for a demonstration.

More Useful Tools

Grove Dictionary of Music.  Online dictionary highly respected for its content and depth.  Online version also reference works in Mozart and Bach complete editions.  Also available in print in the Reference collection.

Grove Dictionary of Music & Musicians, earlier editions.  Available from the Reference tab of the Music Subject heading.   Contains some entries not present in newer edition; gives a different perspective on some topics.

Music Analyses : An Annotated Guide to the Literature.  PRINT guide containing citations to books discussing particular works.  Located in library Reference Collection.

New Grove Dictionary of Musical Instruments.  PRINT dictionary with in depth entries about instruments, their history, and repertory.

EADM 5543 — Evans — Fundamentals of Public School Administration

This is Ona Britton, your friendly Instruction Librarian!  Several databases contain articles and other materials pertinent to education.  These databases should fulfill the requirements for Dr. Evans’ assignments.

Education Databases

ERIC (Educational Resources Information Clearinghouse): Comprehensive database for all aspects of education, including higher education.

TIP: ERIC contains many materials that are not articles, called ERIC documents. To remove ERIC documents, go to the Limiters or Update Results screen and use the Journal or Document limiter.

Professional Development Collection. Contains approximately 500 journals pertaining to education.

TIP: This database covers a smaller set of materials than ERIC, but it is useful if an assignment requires only one or two journal articles. The limiters and Update Results screen contain a limiter for scholarly journals.

More Useful Databases

PsycInfo. Contains articles and other materials on all aspects of psychology. Functions for psychology as ERIC does for education.

SocIndex. Contains articles from scholarly and popular journals pertaining to sociology.

Business Source Complete. Contains articles other information about business. Some useful information for school administrators.

Statistical Record of Native North Americans.  PRINT Reference Book with some useful but somewhat dated statistical information.

The Tribal Government Information website from SWOSU is a good portal site for information.

Tip: Limit to peer reviewed journals.  This database indexes many materials that are not journals.

ERIC — Education Resources Information Center.  Articles and other  materials on all aspects of education

SocIndex — Comprehensive database for the social sciences

Tip: Consider checking SocIndex when ethnicity, economic factors, or age are pertinent to your research need.

Another Database to Consider

HealthSource Nursing/Academic — Many full text articles on all aspects of health.  Consider using this database if you  need information about a medical condition.

Tip: Limit search to scholarly/peer-reviewed journals on the Refine Search tab

Searching Databases Simultaneously

EBSCO has an option for searching several databases at once. However, the limiters and subject headings vary from database to database, making this kind of search less precise. Still, it is useful in many instances. Watch this video for a demonstration.
